Inovateus Development LLC, South Bend, Indiana, an alternate energy research and development companyhas become a UNI-SOLAR® (NASDAQ: ENER) distributor of all of its photovoltaic (solar) products effectiveFebruary 1, 2007. Inovateus Development currently is establishing a dealer network to market to all forwardthinking companies including the Fortune 500, institutions, national home builders, roofing contractors andarchitects.
Inovateus Development became aware of UNI-SOLAR through Dr. George Howard, Ph.D., Professor of Psychologyat the University of Notre Dame and author of Stan Ovshinsky and The Hydrogen Economy...Creatinga Better World. Dr. Howard states that UNI-SOLAR products work especially well in the Midwest and otherovercast regions because of its ability to collect energy in low light conditions. The patented, thin-film technology, unlike that found in crystalline solar panels, is also lightweight, flexible and is available in a style that lookslike a conventional shingle. Inovateus Development is conducting additional comparative research on threephotovoltaic products in a joint venture with the University of Notre Dame. Results of the yearlong test will beavailable in early 2008.
UNI-SOLAR sales are heating. On February 20, 2007, scientists at the NOAA National Climatic Data Centerreported that the combined global land and ocean surface temperature worldwide was the highest for any Januaryon record. On the same day, an organization of more than100 corporate heads (including General Electric,Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor of North America, Goldman Sachs, Wal-Mart, ect.)set out on a plan to cut greenhousegas emissions, calling on governments to act urgently against global warming.
Inovateus is engaged in building highly efficient, luxury homes to promote zero energy consumption. Typically,a home produces more green house gases than an automobile in a year's time. While much attention is given toreducing our dependence on oil, especially imported oil, there remain opportunities to reduce green house gasesin other areas through such as heating and cooling systems, energy efficient appliances and new building materials.Tom Kanczuzewski, CEO of Inovateus Development stated, "This is the niche we are pursuing, to build as energyefficient structures as possible. With products like UNI-SOLAR shingles, just one home can reduce thousandsof pounds of greenhouse gases on an annual basis."
Other projects include research on fuel cells and the use of hydrogen as a viable energy alternative to oil. OncePresident Bush stated we were "...addicted to oil" in his State of the Union address on January 31 of last year,Inovateus accelerated its efforts in developing new sustainable energy systems. On February 1, 2006, InovateusDevelopment published one of the original 12 Steps to Get Off Oil and made it available to executives at theCEO Summit last February. Kanczuzewski thought it was ironic that the summit was held in Ft. Lauderdale, and that, if we don't respond to the environmental issues we face more quickly, Ft. Lauderdale could be underwater in the future.
Tom Kanczuzewski, President and CEO of Inovateus Development remarks, "I've felt for a long while that weas a global community faced serious environmental issues. Of late, more people including scientists, politiciansand the business community are getting the message. I applaud companies such as Wal-Mart that are very proactivein changing the way they are responding to environmental problems. Wal-Mart's solar initiative needs tobe followed by others as soon as possible, wherever possible. We are here to do our part. I believe, as MargaretMead wrote, 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed,it's the only thing that ever has.'"
